Hi, I'm Sofia, a yoga teacher, traveller, psychology student and enjoyer of life from Stockholm, Sweden.
I tried out my first yoga class when I was about 13 years old and since then it's always been a part of my life. I first did Bikram, Yin and Hatha Yoga before falling in love with the flow of Ashtanga Yoga at 19 y/o. After my graduation from school I bought a one way ticket to India to explore and deepen my knowledge of yoga. A few months later I did my first 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course. I continued my travels and ended up where I started, in Stockholm, to teach yoga full time. 2017 I built my yoga shala together with my mother in Stockholm's archipelago. You can read more about this island retreat center on its website (Click here)
I've practiced under the guidance of a few known teachers like John Scott, Chuck Miller, Charlotte Lindström, Isabella Nitschke and my teacher in India Sharath Jois. A great teacher is and will always be a student as well. I go to India on a regular basis to continue my yoga studies with guru Sharath Jois in Mysore. I recently got his blessing to teach the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method, Authorized Level 2 (KPJAYI/SYC).
"Today, yoga is my lifestyle, I breathe it, practice it and share with others what I learn on the way."
For me it’s important to include all aspects of yoga when teaching. To not only focus on the postures, but to involve yoga philosophy, meditation, pranayama, as well as more in depth workshops in physical alignment and technique. Playfulness and focus, strength and softness are things that I believe should be balanced. You should practice in a way that feels joyful and not to perform.
I mainly teach Ashtanga Yoga in its traditional form "Mysore Style". Other than the practices mentioned above, I also teach Yin Yoga which is originally a practice from Chinese medicine.
I hope to see you on the yoga mat one day!
